The Pro Audio, AV/Systems Integration and Lighting segment of the event remains in CIEC whilst the Musical instrument segment is moved to the NAEC halls occupying a gross area of 85,000 sqm of space, making it the largest event ever with over 20 per cent increase in exhibition area, making PALM EXPO the world’s No. 2 event.

The show organisers, IIR Exhibitions Pte Ltd (IIR), China Entertainment Technology Association (CETA) and China Technology Market Management and Promotion Centre (Sinotechmart) are gearing up in full swing working to build an innovative show rich in content and services.

 

Some 1200 exhibitors are expected to take part in this year’s show, with exhibition areas including outdoor booths spread across 85,000 sqm of exhibition space. China’s GDP growth which is projected at 6.8% in the year 2009, presents multiple business opportunities in a developing market with several upcoming projects in the pipeline. Key upcoming major projects include the Shanghai World Expo 2010, the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou 2010, the Guangzhou city upgrading till 2011 worth 350 billion yuan and Starwood’s development of 50 hotels in China which is poised to be completed by 2011.

The PALM Expo Joint Organising Committee consisting of IIR, CETA and Sinotechmart, has embarked an extensive public relations campaign in the lead-up to the show. As of now, a total of more than 50 local and international professional and mass media are involved with the publicity of the event including 12 specialty local media in the areas of audio and lighting, and 13 local media involving entertainment technologies.

A total of 18 overseas trade-specific print media, spanning Singapore, the United States, Britain, and Brazil have been recruited to help expand the reach if the marketing efforts of PALM Expo, including 7 online media from Thailand, Italy, Britain and Brazil. Increased efforts are evident in the scope of publicity compared to previous exhibitions, with the reach now penetrating into the Americas, Europe, Oceania and Asia and parts of Africa in this year.

Invitation of Key Buyers to PALM EXPO 2009

As a testament to the strong bonds follow-up between CETA and the Korea International Trade

Association, KITA will once again lead a buying delegation to PALM Expo. The organiser, CETA, will cooperate with the Korea International Trade Association and to invite both exhibitors and professional visitors to attend the exhibition.

In addition, China’s key national cultural departments’ officials from six provincial and municipal governments will be invited to attend PALM Expo as China strengthens its investment in the construction of cultural facilities to boost domestic demand.

China International Entertainment & Technology Summit The 7th China International Entertainment Technology Summit will be held on 27th May 2009 at the Beijing Radisson Hotel. This year’s focus is on Current Stage Lighting Developments and

Research, with the aim being to drive Chinese Stage Lighting industry to a better developmental stage, foster greater networking within the industry. Another aim of the summit is to update invited attendees including Entertainment and Film Lighting designers and applicant experts, Venue and Project Design Experts, R&D organisations and High-end manufacturers with the very latest in stage design technology and applications.

National Entertainment Technology Information Exchange and Trade Forum

The 43rd Presentation of China’s “National Entertainment Technology Information Exchange and Trade Forum" will be held in Beijing’s Jingmin Plaza from 27th – 30th May. The forum focuses on the arts equipment industry in light of the current financial crisis and how to promote the development of industry. Michael Ramsaur, the President of OISTAT will give a speech on “The Issue Of Developing Technology Creating A Greater Need For Better Trained Technicians”.

The delegates taking part in the two meetings will mainly be agents coming from the engineering industry. These potential buyers will be invited, and fully hosted by the organisers.

Special Area for “High Quality Products in Entertainment Equipment Industry of the Year 2008”

This special area will display High Quality Professional Audio and Lighting which were assessed by CETA in 2008. This will drive the industry’s technological development and improve market competition in China’s Entertainment Technology.

 

Install China Feature Area

The Install China feature area will be showcased from 28th to 31st May in Hall 5 at the CIEC halls. Products showcased include Systems used in systems integration, Public Address Broadcasting Systems and LED Display technologies. State-of-the-Art Boardroom set-up, demonstrating the integration of Central Control Technologies and Conference Systems will be available at the event.

PALM EXPO 2009 Forum & Showcase of Electronic Music

With the theme of “The Opportunities and Challenges: Development Strategy of the World of Electronic Instruments and its Impact on China", this year’s Forum & showcase of Electronic Music will be held at the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre.

Organised by the Chinese Electronic Music Society and China Entertainment Technology Association, the main agenda is on how electronic instruments promote the development of music, the development process of electronic instruments, and the current opportunities and challenges in the development of Chinese electronic instruments. Other activities include the juvenile electronic percussion performance and the Prize-Winning performances from the 2008 Beijing International Electronic Music Festival.

 

Technologies and Showcase of Improved Ethnic Chinese Musical Instruments

The Technologies and Showcase of Improved Ethnic Chinese Musical Instruments will also be held at the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre from 28th - 30th May. It presents China’s significant developments in the area of national instruments in recent years, the introduction of reform and the experience of ethnic instruments. The reform experts of these musical instruments will come face-to-face with the players and producers with prominent presenters including Liu Zhenghui, Producer from Beijing Institute of instruments and Professor Chen Ze from Sichuan Academy of Music and other Instruments Experts and Producers committed to the reform of national instruments.

 

PALM EXPO 2009 – 4th β3 Electronic Guitar Contest (Finals)

The 4th β3 Electronic Guitar contest will be held in National Agriculture Hall from 28th – 30th of May. The contest has been successfully organised for the last 3

years at PALM EXPO, providing a platform for aspiring Guitar musicians to display their talents. This event has China Entertainment Technology Association (CETA)

and Guangdong 3G Group as co-organisers and is hosted by Guitar China and Beijing Entertainment Technology Magazine. The event features 20 outstanding candidates performing “Live”, and has renowned guitarist Lao Wu from “Tangchao”, Li Yanliang, Liu Lin, Wen Lin, and Xia Yan as judges.

 

2009 Palatino Awards – Music Composition (art songs, chorus works)

The Music Composition (art songs, chorus works) final, which is organised by the Central Conservatory of Music and China Entertainment Technology Association, will be staged at the Central Conservatory of Music from 29th-30th May. The Dean of the Central Conservatory of Music, Wang Cizhao will preside as the Chairman of the Organising Committee. Composer DuMingxin, Conductor Yang Hongnian, Singer Guo Shuzhen and Music Theorist Gao Jianjin will serve in the evaluating jury.
